Nevermind - The $15,000 Credit Is Out
February 11th, 2009 categories: Home Buyers
A few sources are reporting that the $15,000 tax credit for home buyers is history.
And after all that work on my last post, The Scoop on the $15,000 Tax Credit for Home Buyers.
Emily Litella can say it best.

Ungh, oh well….
You know, Spain has a great way to ease the same situation we have. They have allowed people who have been laid off to defer a portion of their mortgage on the government’s dime. DEFERRED- not free money. But that would be socialist and this country can’t handle that….
If our government was interested in helping out it’s people just as much as it’s businesses (banks), they’d be making similar investments into mortgages. With TARP, we buy preferred stock in these banks, with the hope that their value will increase and we’ll break even of make a profit.
Our government could do the same for mortgages, but honestly- they know they aren’t are good investment. Their value will only decrease. The private sector would be doing the same if they saw an opportunity.

Interestingly enough, this Spanish government is the same one that was voted into power as a backlash from the Madrid bombings, which was a major blow to the Bush Administration. Their (conservative) guy lost the election following the bombings a few days earlier, which was retaliation for appearing to be the only other country besides England who was willing to appear in TV press conferences supporting the invasion of Iraq.
